Our pets are our family, and families do what they do best – feed each other! Find out about the benefits feeding fresh food to your four-legged sidekicks & how it can help them to enjoy a longer, healthier life.

Adding fresh foods to our diet is so important for us to maintain good health, so it’s no surprise that doing the same for your precious pets is equally as vital.

Compared to highly processed ingredients, fresh food contains natural sources of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that are more bio available to the body unlike synthetic supplements. Because it is more digestible, a diet comprised of fresh foods helps your pet maintain a healthy body weight. Say “bye bye” to flabby bellies and “hello” to your buddy’s newfound waistline!

If simply adding some vegetables to a kibble diet can help to improve the immune system and reduce cancer cell growth1, imagine what a fresh diet made up of 100% whole ingredients can do for your pet. Feeding fresh food has long lasting health effects that can also mean lesser trips to the vet!

The Grateful Pet meals are made from 100% whole ingredients, with high-quality lean muscle meat as the main ingredient, along with carefully selected species appropriate ingredients.

As nature intended

In the wild, dogs and cats survive on a diet that is comprised of mainly meat, especially for cats who are obligate carnivores.

Our goal is to recreate a diet that is most suited for the nutritional requirements and digestive tracts of each species. All recipes are formulated to be high in animal-based protein. Our wide selection of meat-first recipes means that there’s never a dull mealtime. By rotating recipes, it helps your pets increase their nutrient intake and reduce the risk of allergies and intolerances related to food.

Energy levels are better regulated for pets fed with fresh food as highly starchy ingredients that cause weight gain and lethargy never get included in our meals. The benefits also extend to the skin and coat with healthy-looking shiny coats and less itchy yeasty skin. Eating right never looked so good!

No dubious ingredients

Nothing irks us more than questionable ingredients.

For many commercial pet food manufacturers, the use of cheap and insecticide riddled carbohydrates and other poor-quality fillers in the making of pet food is common practice. Items that count as ‘corn’ used in dog food can include cattle feed, corn remnants and corn meal dust. That is a real ‘corn-job’ if you ask us! Fillers from ingredients like soy, beet pulp and wheat used to add bulk to commercial dog food and bind it together is another reason why we stay far away from kibble.

With our 100% natural meals, none of that icky stuff ever finds its way into your pet’s bowl.

Sourced from human grade suppliers

No one enjoys a serving of mystery meat and your buddies should not be subject to it either. Many commercial pet food brands legally contain “4-D” meat: meat from dead, dying, diseased and disabled animals including road kill and expired meats. The Grateful Pet takes pride in sourcing our fresh produce from the same suppliers that provide ingredients to reputable restaurants and hotels in Singapore. Waste not, want not

No one likes talking about it but when you are in charge of scooping the poop, it matters! Due to the inclusion of low-quality ingredients and fillers in commercial pet food, it often results with lots of poop accompanied by a rank, rotting odour.

On a fresh food diet, poop reduces in quantity because there are less unnecessary ingredients in the food, and the body is also able to absorb more of the nutrients from the food. Poop also becomes milder in odour and can appear to be slightly moister yet firmer.

Keeping it pure & honest

Sadly, many pet food labels include vague terms such as ‘meat’ and ‘meal’. This is on top of harsh chemical ingredients such as butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytolueneused (BHT) that are commonly used as preservatives to keep kibble consumable after sitting on the shelf for years.

How often have you picked up a dusty bag of dog food from the shelves? BHA and BHT are also known to be endocrine disruptors and have carcinogenic properties3 when consumed frequently.

The Grateful Pet uses fresh whole foods and other ingredients that are clearly labelled for your ease of mind.

Our meals also never include added salt (except for our cat meals as salt is a dietary requirement), artificial vitamins and minerals, or chemical preservatives. Instead, food is packed in BPA-free, freezer grade bags and kept fresh through the process of flash freezing. This helps to preserve nutrients in the food and protects against bacteria formation.
